Good
Communication Awards 2007
Following on from last year's success, we are pleased to say that Adur District Council's website was short listed again this year for the Website Accessibility Award. We are proud to announce that this time it was 'commended' coming second out of the five short listed finalists.
The Good Communication Awards 2007 event was held on Wednesday May 30th 2007.
Website
Accessibility Award
Presented to the Local Authority, Central Government department, community group or voluntary sector organisation that has made outstanding progress in using technologies to extend the delivery of information and services to include traditionally hard-to-reach groups such as users who are disabled or who have particular access needs. Entries were judged by an independent accessibility panel.
Short listed entries :
- Winner : Slough BC - www.slough.gov.uk
- Commended : Adur DC - www.adur.gov.uk
- Aylesbury Vale DC - www.aylesburyvaledc.gov.uk
- Countryside Council for Wales - www.ccw.gov.uk
- Salford CC - www.salford.gov.uk
Judges said of the Adur website :
"Adur's
website provides a good code structure as well as an excellent heading structure
for blind web users utilising screen readers. It's also one of the few websites
to provide focus state for links, something that's very useful for keyboard-only
users."
