Navigating around this website :
Finding what you are looking for
There are several ways to find what you are looking for on the Adur website. The site navigation has been arranged in several ways, and in most cases there are a number of routes to the same page so you can use the one that suits you best.
As you move your mouse around the screen you will notice that links change colour, from "underlined green" to "underlined blue with a yellow backgound". In the left hand navigation batr the sections will change from green to blue. These highlight features also work if you are navigating the website using your keyboard.
Across the top of every page :
The primary way to navigate our website is by use of the A to Z section. Everything in the site should be included here, ie Councillors are under 'C', Noise problems are under 'N', etc. By clicking on what you are looking for in these lists you will be taken directly to the correct page.
You can also use the site search (you can also search the West Sussex County Council website from the search page) or sitemap sections to help you find what you are after.
The 'quick links' line takes you to some of the popular areas of our website such as jobs, leisure/tourism, forms and payments.
There is also a 'breadcrumb line' ('you are here ... ' ) that will build up as you navigate into our website. This will allow you to jump directly back to any point in your journey through our site right back to the homepage.
Down the left hand side :
Another way to navigate the site is via the 'Adur's services' section. Here site contents are broken down into the actual services provided to you by Adur District Council, West Sussex County Council and other bodies. This means if you are after a planning or environmental health service you can look for it under its service grouping.
The 'Your council' section contains information about the actual structure of the council, its committes, management and political make up and how it is run.
The news section contains current information that you may be interested in and news releases. You will also find consultation items there as well.
The other links on the left hand side will take you to our on-line services (forms, payments and other self service functions), how to contact us, help and FAQs and information about where Adur is and how to get here.
Down the right hand side :
The new right hand column contains the correct contact details for the service on the main body of the page - this will change according to what you are looking at.
You will also find links to FAQs about the service, if there are any.
The last two sections in the right hand column will give you links to other related sections elsewhere on our website and also links to related external websites that may be of further use or interest (URLs of external links will print out if you do a print of a page).
Other ways :
Many of the commonly hits pages now have 'friendly URLs' so you can guess many pages on our website by adding what you are after to the main website address eg :
You can also use the keyboard and access keys to navigate our website, for more details about this see our keyboard navigation page.
