Counselling

Adur District Council does not provide a counselling service.

The following range of links will take you to a number of organisations that can help you find counselling on a range of topics.

  • Adur District Council cannot be held responsible for the content of, or advice given, or services offered, on other websites.
  • Some of the organisations listed below are free, but some may make a charge for their services or advice, it is up to you to establish this before you enlist their help in any way.
  • You should always make full enquiries into the expertise of any counsellor before attending a counselling session or following their advice.
  • Whichever counsellor you decide to see, or service you decide to use, always ask for proof of their qualifications and insurance and to see their registration details with their recognised body.

Bereavement counselling :

Cruse bereavement care logoCruse Bereavement Care offers confidential counselling for people who are bereaved. It also offers practical advice and social support.

The Samaritans :

The Samaritans website offers useful advice and helpful links to organisations that cover a wide range of subjects where you may be able to get help and advice on a wide range of subjects, eg divorce, drugs, alcohol, bullying, depression, mental health, prison, health, sexuality, etc.

Facing Bereavement :

Trying to deal with the death of a loved one can seem impossible. The Facing Bereavement website offers you guidance and advice on how to get through it and look to the future.

The Counselling Directory :

The Counselling Directory website is a comprehensive database of UK counsellors, with information on their training and experience, areas of counselling covered, fees and contact details. The directory covers a wide range of topics including : abuse, addictions, anger management, anxiety, bereavement, career counselling, debt management, dementia, depression, eating disorders, relationship/personal, personality disorders, marriage counselling, schizophrenia, sexuality, stress, tourette's syndrome.

Martin Lewis : Debt Problems - Where to start, what to do, where to get help... (as featured on Radio 2's 'Most Useful Website of the Year')

Consumer Credit Counselling Service : CCCS is a registered charity offering free, confidential advice and support to anyone who is worried about debt. Our free counselling and debt advice can help you get back in control of your money and on with your life.

National Debtline : The helpline that provides free confidential and independent advice on how to deal with debt problems.

Advice Guide : Part of the Citizens Advice Bureau :

IVA Advice.org : offers free and impartial advice about Individual Voluntary Arrangements.

IVA Advice.net : Offers free debt advice and services for UK residents

The Insolvency Service : Provide information to the public on insolvency and redundancy matters and much more

The UK Insolvency Helpline : a national telephone helpline for people with debt problems in England, Scotland, Ireland and Wales. The service is free, confidential and independent. The service has existed since 1987 and was set up in conjunction the credit industry.
