Audit Commission (now includes what was District Audit)
Audit by external auditors
Each
year Adur District Council is subject to audit by external auditors appointed
by the Audit Commission. The extent of the audit is determined by statute
and the Annual
Governance Report (previously the annual audit letter) now
has to be published :

Each year the body’s Annual Return is audited by an external auditor
appointed by the Audit Commission.
Any person interested has the opportunity to inspect and make copies of the Annual Return and all books, deeds, contracts, bills, vouchers and receipts etc. relating to them.
(Note : The Audit Commission has now combined with and taken over District Audit).
