Appeals (housing benefit or council tax benefit)
If you disagree with the council's decision regarding Housing or Council Tax Benefit, you may request that that we 'revise' our decision. This must be done in writing within one calendar month of the initial decision being made.
Your request should contain details as to why you disagree with a decision. It is not enough, for example, for you to say you are unhappy with the decision - you must state why the decision is wrong and provide further evidence if appropriate.
The council will either reconsider the original decision, or offer you an explanation as to how the decision was made. Following this, if you are still not satisfied, you have the right of appeal with an independent appeal tribunal.
