Do I need building regulations approval?

Planning Portal logoYou can find out what permission(s) you need (planning permission or building regulations approval) on the Planning Portal website. You can view planning and building regulations information for many common householder projects and find out what permissions you may (or may not) need to do the works. You will also find useful case histories and information on your responsibilities :

If you are uncertain or wish to discuss a building project that you wish to make please contact Planning Services.

Once you have found out what permission(s) you need use the following link(s) :

To print off a blank from open the relevant on-line form below, then click 'Begin New Form', then click 'Return the form' (last button), then click 'Draft Print' (this allows you to print off the form either blank or partially filled in).

Note: Cheques must be made payable to 'Adur District Council' and the form should be sent to 'Building Control, Portland House, Richmond Road, Worthing, BN11 1LF'.

Map copies :
As part of the application process you may require copies of the relevant map areas. End of 'map return scheme' - The Ordnance Survey has changed the way local authorities can use their licensing agreement. As a result from the 30th September 2007, Adur District Council will no longer be able to sell Ordnance Survey Map extracts for the support of Planning and Building application submissions (the map return scheme). A growing number of Ordnance Survey Partners can now provide map extracts for these purposes. Follow the link below to find your nearest centre.
