Alcohol and drugs advice and support in Adur
How can I help my children to cope if they came into contact with drugs?
Try to make sure you know enough about drugs to talk to them properly about
the subject.
Research has shown that children who are able to discuss drugs with their parents are less likely to take drugs.
Find out about drugs awareness programmes which take place in their schools.
Let your children know your views on drugs, and the reasons behind these.
Be available as a listening ear, encouraging them to share any problems, without probing or invading their privacy.
Young people usually obtain any drugs from friends and acquaintances. Try
to get to know their friends.
Show your children you trust them, and give them a degree of responsibility.
Remember - for most young people taking illegal drugs is not part of normal life.
