The
Queen's Golden Jubilee
2002 marked the 50th anniversary of Her Majesty The Queen's Accession to the Throne. It was an occasion both to look back at the role that The Queen has played in the affairs of the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth over the last 50 years and to look forwards.
Nationally, festivities were concentrated in the summer months of May, June and July 2002 to take advantage of longer days and better weather.
The official Jubilee weekend of national celebrations took place over the Bank Holiday weekend 1-4 June 2002.
