Consultation in Adur
This section details areas of work, or council business, that you are invited to make comments on.
Consultation is managed by the Executive Office within Adur District Council.
All consultation undertaken by the Council of a corporate nature is filtered through this office to ensure :
- high quality consultation is undertaken
- that various consultation exercises proposed throughout the year can be joined up (where relevant and appropriate) to avoid duplication of effort; consultation over load with the public/stakeholders etc; reduce costs and so on
- that expert help is provided on the various methods that can be used for consultation purposes; the design of questionnaires; timetabling and sequencing of tasks and allocation of duties in the consultation process to ensure deadlines are met
- the use of professional software to design and layout questionnaires for paper application and/or electronic completion
- provision for the receipt and accounting of replies
- etc
Whilst other consultation may be undertaken by the service departments themselves, all staff are requested to notify the Executive Office of any consultation they are intending to do and to use the skills of this team where possible.
Some areas of work undertaken by the Council are of such a specialist nature that it may be considered appropriate to buy in specialist help to advise, compile and /or undertake consultation in such circumstances. When this happens, the Executive Office will again provide advice and support to those officers involved in the consultation process where needed.
The Council uses various ways to consult with its residents and stakeholders.
We also have a residents panel called Viewpoint. This confiential residents panel gets asked to give it's opinion about five times a year on a variety of council topics. If you are interested in joining the Viewpoint panel click on the link below :
