Council tax explanatory notes : People with disabilities
If you, or anyone who lives with you, including any child, requires the use of a wheelchair indoors, or needs an extra bathroom, kitchen or other room particularly for meeting the needs of their disability, you may be entitled to a reduction in your bill.
The reduction would be the equivalent of charging you on the next band down. If you are living in a band A property the reduction would be equivalent to one ninth of the band D charge.
If you think you may be entitled to a disabled reduction please contact the council. If your bill shows that a disabled reduction has been granted, you must let the council know of any change in circumstances, which may affect your entitlement, within 21 days of that change.
