Publication of members allowances - what did councillors claim?
From 2005/06 to 2009/10 member's allowances (or expenses) were published in Adur Outlook, the council's magazine that is distributed free of charge to every home and business in the district. From 2010/11 onwards they were published as a news release :

Members Allowances Assessment
Government Regulations require Members Allowances to be assessed by an Independent Remuneration Panel, made up from members of the public who are not councillors or staff of the authority, nor have any specific political affiliation. The Panel made their recommendations for 2009/10 members allowances to the council and councillors decided to accept the recommendations but not introduce the allowance increases in 2009/10.
Joint Independent Remuneration Panel
A joint panel of independent people who recommend to Adur and Worthing Councils the members' allowances specific to each council. The recommendations go to the Joint Governance and Audit Committee .
