About Councillor Ann Terry
My interests / hobbies :
I am a newly elected councillor and I want to be a voice for local people, helping them to live in a safe environment.
I am a very active person and I am involved with a lot of local groups and charities, including contact the elderly, school crossing patrol and relief, I have also been heavily involved with victim support in the past.
I am a keen sportsperson, I dance, swim, I am a member of the Adur indoor bowling league, and I love to ice skate.
I am famous for my ice skating and have travelled to competitions all over the world. My autobiography ‘Skating on Thin Ice’ is still selling since it was released in 1985. I have travelled worldwide with companies such as 'Holiday on Ice' and regularly attend international skating reunions.
Contact the Elderly :
Currently for Contact the Elderly I am looking for people aged 70 and over, who live alone, who would like to meet once per month on a Sunday afternoon for tea to make new friends. I can always use additional volunteer hosts/hostesses and drivers for these events. Thank you.
When and why I have become a councillor :
I was elected to the District Council in May 2008, I stood for election because I wanted to make a difference in the Churchill ward and stand up for peoples rights.
When can you meet me?
I am currently looking into setting up a regular surgery for Churchill. In the meantime if you would like to set up a meeting, please send me an e-mail.
What would I like to achieve as your councillor :
I’d like to be successful in making the streets safer: for children to be able to walk to school safely and families to be able to play safely in the park. I would like to see a cleaner environment and a reduction of noise pollution
My current role on the council :
I have been selected to sit on the Licensing Committee. I also sit on the Fairtrade and Adur CVS outside bodies.
