Eligible to Vote
Your name must appear on the Register of Electors in order that you can vote. If you are in any doubt about this contact the Elections Office, Civic Centre, Ham Road, Shoreham-by-Sea on (01273) 263033, or 263032 to check.
If you have moved since the Register of Electors for 2005 was compiled (during the autumn last year) you can make an application to re-register.
The last date for receipt of re-registration claims to be valid for the 5 May elections is 11 March. This date is because regulations don't allow us to add names once the elections process has begun. If you had registered last autumn and have moved, but not made an application to re-register by 11 March, you can still vote using your former address where you are registered. You can simply return to the polling station allocated to your former address; you don't need your poll card, or you can apply to vote by post.

Postal Voting
Postal voting is a most convenient method of voting, you don't need to go the polling station and if you apply by 5pm on 26 April (at the latest) we will send you a postal vote. All you need to do is mark the ballot paper for the candidate you are voting for, sign a declaration which comes with the postal vote and have it witnessed by someone who knows you and return it in the reply paid envelope.
hose electors who already have a postal vote set up for them won't receive a poll card as their postal vote will be sent directly to them. Completed postal vote applications must be received at Civic Centre, Ham Road Shoreham-by-Sea by 5pm on Tuesday, 26 April at the latest to be able to be sent a postal vote. Remember, all postal vote applications need to be signed and dated.
The main issue of postal votes will be on Monday, 25 April 2005. Postal votes will be sent by first class post to all registered postal voters. Those who submit their applications between 21 and 26 April will be sent postal votes as soon as practicable. Any applications received after 5pm on 26 April cannot be actioned for these elections.

Polling Day
The Elections will be held on Thursday 5 May 2005 between 7 am and 10 pm.
Poll cards will be delivered to all registered electors (who have not already been set up as postal voters) in April. You don't need your card to vote so long as you are registered. The Poll card tells you at what Polling Station you should vote at, please check this carefully as some Stations have changed since the last Elections.
