Polling stations review 2007
Adur District Council
Notice of review of Polling districts and polling places
Representations of the People Act 1983 (as amended)
The Review of Polling Districts and Polling Places (Parliamentary Elections)
Regulations 2006
Adur District Council is carrying out a review of all its current polling districts and polling places/stations for use at both local and national elections.
Polling districts are the areas comprising a number of roads and houses allocated to a polling place/polling station within each ward. The review will not affect ward boundaries, which are determined independently of the Council.
The Council has always aimed to locate polling stations within a convenient distance from the majority of electors homes, with the premises being easy to find and accessible to all. However, it does not always prove easy to find suitable premises in every area, which means the premises cannot always be located in the centre of the polling district.
The Council has kept its polling districts and polling places/stations under review following each election, the last full review was carried out in 2005. However, new Government regulations require all local authorities to examine their polling districts every four years, with the current review needing to be completed by 31st December 2007.
Residents and interested organisations are therefore being asked to give us their views on the polling places/stations where they voted at the last election. This consultation provides an opportunity for you to tell us what you think of the facilities and make suggestions where you think a change should be considered. Consultation with election agents and parish clerks will be held in September and their comments will be included in the review. The Returning Officer has to make a report which will be available for public viewing.
To give feedback or make a comment, please complete and submit the 2007 Review of Polling Districts and Polling Places - Submission on-line form (sorry - now closed). Alternatively you can or download the submission form to fill in by hand (.PDF 25kb) and return it to :
