Foot & Mouth, Bluetongue and Avian influenza (bird flu)
These
diseases are monitored and controlled by DEFRA (Department for Environment,
Food & Rural Affairs) :
- As at 13:00 on 22 February 2008 there were 81 confirmed premises affected by Bluetongue. For more details, and the latest situation, see the DEFRA bluetongue website link below.
- A Bluetongue Control Zone was put in place by DEFRA at 14:20 on the 24th October 2007 which extends into Mid Sussex and is adjacent to farmland within Adur District
- The protection zone encompasses all of the Adur District
