Emergencies - Threat levels (national security)
Update 02-07-2007 : Increased security
Following recent events nationally, police are conducting additional patrols
and increasing their presence at key points across the force area, including
Gatwick Airport, until further notice.
Sussex Police can confirm that there have been no incidents anywhere in Sussex. However, contingency plans have been activated as a precautionary measure, and the situation is being kept under close review.
Extra officers have been deployed to reassure local communities and officers are speaking to staff from licensed premises, to give advice, following the incidents in both London and Glasgow.
DCC Geoff Williams said: "Public safety remains paramount and we are stepping up our presence throughout Sussex. People should remain alert, but not alarmed at this time of heightened security."
