or verminous premises
Those of you who have watched 'Life of Grime' on television will know what sort of situation this can refer to!
The council has powers to deal with premises which, because of the lifestyle of the occupant, pose a threat to public health or the environment.
The initial approach is always to try to resolve problems by discussion and negotiation with the occupier, although such cases usually lead to formal action being taken through service of notice and the carrying out of works in default.
