Environmental health
The purpose of Adur District Council's environmental health and community services is to provide a range of services broadly related to those aspects of environmental and human health affecting quality of life that are determined by physical, biological, social and psychological factors in the environment.
The service is provided by three teams :
Commercial team :
- Food safety
- Health and safety at work
(including : Work Advice for Young People and Child employment) - Infectious disease control
- Licensing
- Port health
- Smokefree
Community services team :
Domestic and pollution team :
- Air pollution and air quality (including Air Quality Report)
- Bathing water monitoring
- Contaminated land (including Contaminated Land Strategy)
- Demolition
- Drainage issues
- Drinking water safety
- Environmental information
- Filthy or verminous premises
- Fly tipping
- Japanese Knotweed
- Noise control and neighbourhood complaints
- Pest control
- Pollution Prevention and Control
- Private sector housing (including : repair grants, disabled facilities grants, houses in multiple occupation, and houseboats and caravans)
- Radiation monitoring
- Radon gas
- Ruinous and dilapidated buildings
- Unsecure buildings
