  • Cockroaches - charged service
  • Bedbugs - charged service
  • Wasps and fleas - Note : A chargeable service is only available for those in receipt of benefit (income support, housing or council tax benefit). Arrangements must be made in person at the council's cash offices where proof of benefit entitlement must be produced to the cashier.

  • No other pests are dealt with by the council - see the range of leaflets below for more information on a range of pests and other wildlife.

  • To request pest control services please use this on-line form (requires Adobe Acrobat)

FleasIf, after a visit of the pest officer, we are unable to treat, a refund of 50% of the fee paid will be made.

There is no service provided during evenings and weekends. Some private contractors may offer such a service.

For business premises, we do not provide a service unless you have an existing contract with us.

Further information, details of the council's current charges, and alternative service providers can be obtained by contacting our pest control service.

Prevention is better than cure

Preventing an infestation of pests is as important as treating an infestation promptly.

Whilst there is little that can be done to prevent a wasp's nest, there are simple precautions that can be taken to reduce the risk of attracting some other unwelcome visitors :

  • Pet animals should be regularly examined and treated against fleas.
  • Basic hygiene and proper storage of foodstuffs can help prevent the attentions of mice in the home.
  • Keeping the garden tidy will reduce harbourage for rats.

CockroachesIf you do discover an infestation, call in the experts early!
