Internal redecoration scheme for tenants
Eligible
applicants will be of pensionable age or disabled and will have no one able
to decorate for them. In addition, you must not be under-occupying your property.
In this context, under-occupied is where there is a spare bedroom not occupied
by a regular carer, and where the property is a house with a garden which
could be occupied by a family, or, where the property is a three bedroom
flat and more than one bedroom is spare.
The work is carried out by a council appointed contractor, usually during the autumn or winter.
Assistance is restricted to a maximum of two rooms per five years, although the length of the waiting list may mean that at some times tenants may have to wait more than five years. Tenants who have moved into newly decorated properties or who have mutually exchanged into their new home, will not be eligible for this scheme until they have occupied the property for five years.
If you require any further information or wish to discuss the scheme contact your Local Housing Office.
