Leader of the council and leader of the opposition

Role of the leader of the Council

The Leader of the Council is elected by the Full Council and is the Chairperson of Cabinet. The Leader provides the leadership and direction of the council and also has responsibility to take individual decisions on matters relating to overall policy and strategy. The Terms of Reference for the Leader are set out in full in Part 3 of the Council’s Constitution.
