Byelaws
The council has powers to make byelaws. They are rules which enable the council to regulate, administer or manage its district, property or undertaking. They are binding on all persons to whom they relate. It is normally a criminal offence to breach a provision of a byelaw.
The council has made byelaws covering the following matters :
- Good rule and government
- Regulation of dogs - see also : Dog Control Orders
- Pleasure grounds
- Seaside pleasure boats
- Hackney carriages
- Mill Hill
- Lancing Ring (Local Nature Reserve)
Copies of the byelaws can be obtained on application to Legal and Democratic Services.
(Correct spelling is 'byelaws' - common incorrect spellings include : by laws, bylaws, by-laws, bye laws, bye-laws).
