Leisure and tourism in Adur
Parks, open spaces, playgrounds and recreation grounds
Adur Council runs 140 hectares of parks and open spaces in the district. There are well laid out formal parks, secluded rest gardens and areas for sport and more active recreation. Many of the parks and open spaces have well designed and modern playgrounds for younger children to enjoy.
The largest three are Buckingham Park, Lancing Manor Park and Southwick Recreation ground. Lists of parks, playgrounds and open spaces administered by : Adur District Council or Lancing Parish Council

Barbeques, fires and picnics in Adur’s parks and open spaces
When the weather is nice and people head to our parks for the day it is inevitable that they will want to take along food and refreshments.
Please note the following:
- Picnics are permitted in any of Adur’s parks and open spaces
- Barbeques are not permitted in any of Adur’s parks and open spaces
- Fires are not permitted in any of Adur’s parks and open spaces
Please do not :
- Do not light barbeques or fires or 'party torches/candles' (eg those with a flame)
- Do not bring any glass in to our parks and open spaces (eg bottles, glasses, food containers or bowls, etc) - if it breaks it is difficult to pick up and is therefore a hazard
- Do not leave your litter behind - please take it home or use the litter bins provided, any food remains should be well wrapped before being placed in a bin
- Do not play amplified music
- Do not have more than 20 people (if you are planning a gathering of more than 20 people then you will need permission and need to fill out an events application form)
- Do not cause a nuisance to other park users
- Do not take over sports or play equipment for extended periods of time stopping other park users from using them
