Leisure and tourism in Adur

Sussex Youth Games and Parallel Youth Games 2006

This year Eastbourne will stage the 9th Sussex Youth Games on Sunday 25th June 2006. The Youth Games offers pupils the opportunity to experience a number of different sports in a competitive situation. Teams from all the Local Authorities across Sussex take part and compete in the variety of sports that are on offer including  :

  • Aquathlon
  • Athletics
  • Badminton
  • Basketball
  • Dance
  • Football
  • Judo
  • Mixed High Five Netball
  • Mixed Hockey
  • Mixed Tennis
  • Netball
  • Rugby
  • Skateboarding
  • Squash
  • Street Football
  • Table Tennis

The aim of the Sussex Youth Games and the Parallel Youth Games are: to promote fair play and a spirit of friendly competition; to provide new competitive opportunities for young people, including those with disabilities; to encourage the development of new working partnerships; to facilitate an information exchange; and to share good practice between those working in sports development.

The Sussex Youth Games works with others to encourage and motivate more young people to continue to participate and progress in sport to promote happy, healthy lifestyles.

The Sussex Youth Games will take place at four venues in Eastbourne, Hampden Park, Eastbourne Sports Park, Moira House and the University of Brighton.

The Parallel Youth Games will take place at the Triangle Leisure Centre in Burgess Hill on the 14th June 2006. The sports that will be included are :
