Get 'wheel' with us
Ref : 06/041 : Date : 09-05-2006
Adur and Worthing Councils, who plan to provide a single waste service for their residents launch their public consultation this week. Residents are invited to have their say on which waste and recycling collection option they would prefer. The project, 'Get wheel with us' gives the public three choices.
The new single service will mean introducing wheelie bins where they are suitable.
Every home in Adur and Worthing should receive a leaflet explaining what the three choices will mean, they are :
- Option 1 - alternate weekly recycling and refuse collections
- Option 2 - fortnightly recycling and weekly refuse collection
- Option 3 - weekly recycling and weekly refuse collections
People are asked to complete the reply slip on the leaflet by choosing which one they prefer and returning it to Adur and Worthing's joint depot in Lancing by 9 June.
Roadshows will take place throughout both areas and there will also be two public meetings, 15 May at Worthing library and 5 June Civic Centre, Shoreham.
Both councils will make the final decision on which option is chosen in July.
Adur Council's Community and Leisure Services Committee Chairman, Keith Dollemore said: "This is the public's opportunity to let us know which of the options they prefer."
Worthing Cabinet member for the Environment, Councillor Bryan Turner said: "This is an important development for Worthing and Adur which will set out a path for service delivery for the next 10 years so we encourage everyone to give it some serious thought and return their choices back to us."
