Vandals
stop children's fun
Ref : 06/102 : Date : 30-10-2006
Vandals burned down one of the most popular pieces of play equipment in the new play area at Lancing Manor Park on Friday night.
The fire, which has caused £3,000 worth of damage to the pod swing, had to be put out by West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service.
Adur Watch Inspectors found the damage on Saturday morning along with over 20 broken glass bottles.
The incident has been reported to the police and they are investigating.
Adur Watch manager, Clive Bramble said: “If anyone sees criminal damage being committed they should report it to the police. This mindless attack will now deprive children who loved playing on this swing.”
The park is still open but the council are unsure when this popular swing will be repaired or replaced.
