A member of the governments ‘Respect’ task force will be a guest speaker at the Adur Council tenants and leaseholders conference ‘Building respect in Adur’, which takes place on 8 December at the Civic Centre, Shoreham from 9am - 2pm.
Adur Council is taking on the Respect standard as a landlord as part of its commitment to tackling anti-social behaviour and creating a culture of respect.
All council tenants and leaseholders are invited to the conference which will see the launch of governments Respect standard for housing management . Speaking at the event will be Sue Strickland, assistant director of the Respect Task Force.
The Respect standard aims to have central government, local agencies and local communities work together to build communities in which people have more respect for one another.
People can come and find out what the council and its partners are doing already to combat anti-social behaviour.
Other speakers will include Sergeant Chris Cox from the Police and Peter Latham who will talk about the Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnership. People will have the opportunity to ask questions about the issues surrounding anti-social behaviour.
Housing and Central Services Chairman, Julie Searle said: “Many people today feel one of the problems facing society is the lack of respect certain individuals have for their neighbours and their community. We already do a lot of work to address these concerns and tackle anti social behaviour. And we will continue to work with our partners to achieve even more.
“I hope many of our tenants will come to this event, which I’m, sure they will find informative and enjoyable.”
