Help the environment this Christmas

Ref : 06/119 : Date : 19-12-2006

Christmas bells and hollyAdur residents are being urged to recycle Christmas trees, cards and unwanted clothes.

Used wrapping paper and cards can be put in Adur District Council’s blue recycling boxes for collection.

Christmas trees can be taken to special compounds which will be set up from 5th to 26th January 2007 at Lancing and Southwick leisure centres and in Buckingham Park, Shoreham. The trees will be shredded and used as mulch in Adur’s parks and gardens.

The council is also urging people to take unwanted clothes and gifts to charity shops instead of throwing them away.

Community and Leisure Services Chairman, Keith Dollemore said : “Most people have lots more rubbish this time of year. So the more we can recycle the better.”
