Amnesty for Worthing and Adur Residents
Ref : 06/aws-01 : Date : 19-09-2006
PRESS RELEASE FROM WORTHING AND ADUR COUNCILS
Do you have an unwanted vehicle that has reached the end of its life and don't know what to do with it?
Many vehicles are dumped on our streets each year, leaving the council with the cost of removing it. So in order to encourage car owners to dispose of their cars responsibly, Adur and Worthing councils are holding an amnesty for all unwanted vehicles from 23 October through to 17th November.
Vehicles in almost any condition will be accepted although ideally they should be completely intact with all four wheels included. The previous three amnesties in Worthing have yielded between 25 and 35 unwanted cars.
This service has now been extended to Adur district residents as well as Worthing as part of the partnership working between two councils.
Paul Willis, Waste Strategy Manager says: "With reduced scrap values for unwanted vehicles, many people do not know what to do with a vehicle that is no longer roadworthy. This is an ideal scheme to legitimately get rid of the jalopy that is taking up space on your driveway."
There is no cost to the residents or the councils for removing the cars as the service is arranged with the co-operation of the vehicle contractor.
If you would like to take advantage of this service call :
