New playground open in Lancing
Ref : 07/080 : Date : 20-08-2007
Adur Council and the local community will open a new adventure playground this week at Shadwells park in Lancing following a £65,000 face lift.
Earlier this year the council were successful in hitting a lottery jackpot of £200,000 to spend on children’s play projects and £65,000 was earmarked for Shadwells.
Adventure parks are becoming an Adur speciality. Mums, dads and children love them and this one even boasts a BMX track.
Last year a consultation event took place at the park and children said they wanted an adventurous playground and somewhere to ride their bikes.
Local resident Andrew Matten said: “We’ve got what the kids wanted - It’s their choice and their park. Hope they enjoy it.”
Council Chairman and local ward councillor Brenda Collard is delighted. She said: “Local families must be thrilled to have this facility for their children to enjoy. I wish they had playgrounds like this when I was a child.”
