Saturday’s (10/11/07) farmers' market in Shoreham will roll back the
years to the 1920s, complete with old time carousel, jazz, 1920s fancy dress,
coconut shy and other fun and free attractions.
The event, organised by Adur District Council, takes place at Coronation Green in Shoreham to publicise voting for the Sustrans’ Connect2 bid for the People’s £50 million contest. A vote for Connect2 is a vote for £750,000 towards a new footbridge. Shoreham’s existing footbridge, built in the 1920s and owned by West Sussex County Council is coming to the end of its life.
People can start voting early online at www.biglotteryfund.org.uk/prog_the_peoples_50_million.htm from 26 November 2007. Voting by phone takes place over the weekend 7 - 10 December 2007.
Sustrans’ Connect2 has 79 projects around the country in their bid. They will compete against the Eden Project, Sherwood Forest and the Black Country urban park to win a televised public vote in December.
Each organisation will be the subject of a television programme in the week commencing 3 December, Sustrans’ Connect2 is scheduled to be featured on Tuesday 4 December.
