Christmas card winners meet Adur’s mother Christmas

Over 180 children entered a competition to design a Christmas card for Adur Council Chairman aka Mother Christmas Brenda Collard.
Brenda invited Adur’s first and middle schools to take part and was overwhelmed with the response. She said: “I’ve had such a fantastic response from the children. We’ve certainly got plenty of young artistic talent here in Adur.”
The winning pictures will now be made up into Christmas cards which will be sent out around the country. The competition was split into two categories; children of first school age and children of middle school age. Local artist Chris Howitt judged the competition and picked two winner and four runners up.
The winners are Sarah Smart, 11, from Buckingham Middle School, and George Eccleston, 7, from Freshbrook First School who each received a £15 book voucher each. Runners up were Jessica Flavell ,4, Harry Spruce, 6, both from Freshbook First School and Debbie Odusote, 10, from Herons Dale School and Emily Smart, 8, from White Styles who all received a £10 book voucher.
