Help for Adur’s shopkeepers
Ref : 08/090 : Date : 27-10-2008
A new initiative aimed to help local shops during the financial crisis is underway in Adur. Adur Council and its partners want to support local shops make the most of their businesses.
The project kicked off with a team of mystery shoppers calling into 50 of Adur’s town centre shops to test the quality of the customer experience. This will then provide valuable feedback to retailers about their customers’ experience.
Free advice tailored to retailers needs, followed by a seminar and a dedicated report which will help town centre shops compete in these tough times.
Research by Shopper Anonymous, who run the project, show that 75 percent of retailers reported an increase in profits following the exercise and the remaining 25 percent felt it had improved their business.
Cabinet member for regeneration, Jim Funnell said: “We want to help Adur’s retailers attract new customers and keep existing ones and support our town centres in this current financial climate. “
The highest performing businesses in each town will receive an award and there will be an award for the best shop in Adur at a celebration evening on the 11 November 2008 at the Ropetackle Centre in Shoreham.
Any retailer who would like more information should contact David Steadman (the Adur Town Centres and Street Scene Coordinator) on 01273 263152 or send the Adur Town Centres and Street Scene Coordinator an e-mail
