36 new homes could be built in Sompting
Ref : 08/100 : Date : 03-12-2008
A planning application for a development of 36 homes, plus community open space, on a former nursery site in Sompting Village has been lodged with Adur planners.
The development proposal, for 29 mixed houses and seven apartments, is in a conservation area, but is outside the Sussex Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The application includes community open space with landscaping and trees, an access road with traffic calming, restoration of boundary walls and a small barn.
The developers say the layout will be a 'home zone' around a central open space and designed for people and not cars.
The design proposal says the appearance of the development would be traditional, using materials such as flint and wood to reflect the rest of the village. The apartments will be in a manor house and the houses will range from two to six bedroom. There are plans to include 11 affordable homes, seven rented and four shared ownership and these are a mix of one bedroom apartments and two/three bedroom.
The plans (planning application number ADC/0563/08) can be viewed at the Help Point, Civic Centre, Shoreham or are available to view on-line in our GIS mapping system.
Comments should be sent to the Head of Planning, at the Civic Centre, Shoreham BN43 6PR by 9th January 2009.
