Two volunteers wanted to help safeguard Adur's historic environment
Ref : 09/058 : Date : 23-06-2009
Two local people who have an interest in Adur’s historic buildings and environment are wanted to join the Adur District Conservation Advisory Group (ADCAG).
ADCAG advises planning officers on planning applications which could affect buildings and areas of historic interest in the district, by giving constructive advice.
The group normally has six members but two have now retired. Chairman of the Development Control Committee, Pat Beresford, said: “I would like to thank our two retiring members, John Grover and Roger Bateman, for their long service and dedication. ADCAG is a valuable group which helps to inform officers about the historic environment and protection of our conservation areas, and their specialist knowledge and input has been invaluable over the length of their membership.”
Ideally the council would like the two new members to have some building or architectural knowledge or interest.
Membership of the group is voluntary and unpaid. It meets once a month on a Friday afternoon to look at the latest planning applications.
