Adur's 'pot of gold' gets an extra £20,000
Ref : 09/087 : Date : 19-10-2009
An extra £20,000 for smaller projects has been added to the Adur
Council ‘pot of gold’ fund of £100,000. This additional
money is in response to the number of ideas coming forward for much smaller
projects.
The money has to be spent on improving community facilities, improving the appearance of the district or equipment.
All the money is ready and waiting to be spent on the best ideas put forward by Adur community groups, charities, voluntary organisations or residents associations. Adur residents can also put forward ideas that the council can carry out on their behalf.
Council Leader, Neil Parkin said: “We are getting a great response so far and by adding this extra £20,000 we will be able to help some of the smaller projects in the community succeed. An example for instance could be sports equipment or a bench. So keep those ideas coming.”
Closing date for bids is 13 November. A short listing panel will whittle the bids down on 18 December and the public can start voting week commencing 21 December. Voting will be online at www.adur.gov.uk or people can come into the Civic Centre to caste their votes.
The ideas with the most votes will be displayed at the ‘pot of gold’ event in January where the final votes can be caste. The projects with the most votes from the £20,000 ‘pot’ will go before a Full Council, who will cast the deciding vote.
