Ref : 09/103 : Date : 08-12-2009

Residents and businesses of Adur and Worthing are invited to join in a discussion to support economic recovery in the area.

Adur and Worthing councils, overview and scrutiny committee have commissioned an economic recovery review. The review wants to find out how businesses and residents are coping during these credit crunch times.

An online discussion forum is available at

The review wants to find out, if and what people think councils and other organisations could be doing during these tough times that would help economic recovery. The council also want contributions to the debate from people in person as well.

The councils do have services in place to help people during these times, such as:

  • Housing advice and practical support for people faced with losing their homes.
  • Encouraging businesses to apply for rate relief
  • Encouraging people to claim benefits.

The council would also encourage people to contact them if they are having difficulties paying their council tax or rent.

Chairman of the review group, councillor Tom Wye said: “The working group is keen to gather as many views as possible from people, businesses and organisations to assess what is being done and what more can be done to assist communities in these important times. Your views are very important to the councils. Please take the time to respond.”

The discussion forum is open until 4 January 2009 or people can contact  :
