Is Adur user-friendly for people with disabilities?
Ref : 09/110 : Date : 15-12-2009

Adur Council is carrying out a fact-finding review to see if people think
the district is a user-friendly place for people with a disability. People
are invited to contribute their views, experiences and ideas.
The council’s watchdog, Overview and Scrutiny Committee, want to know if people :
- have been prevented from doing certain things because of their disabilities
- have problems gaining access to buildings
The review wants to know if people think the council or others in the community could make improvements which would make life easier.
Overview and Scrutiny Chairman, Liza McKinney said: “I am deeply concerned that there are places in the area that are not user friendly to people who are disabled and prevent them from enjoying life to the full.
“It seems to me that there may be some places, not only official buildings, but, restaurants, shops and leisure facilities, which are inaccessible. I’m hoping that by highlighting such places we will be able to come together with those responsible to make life easier.”
