Snow didn't stop new Middle Road play area opening in time for Christmas
Ref : 09/113 : Date : 21-12-2009
On
Friday 18th December 2009, whilst most of Adur was covered in snow, Middle
Road play area contractors, Playworld Ltd, completed their final checks,
removed the fencing and allowed the local children an early Christmas present.
The new £50,000 extended play area was funded by West Sussex County Council (WSCC) Playbuilder money especially for 8-13 year olds, with the aims to be fun, adventurous and natural looking.
The rubber tiled safety surface allows the grass to grow through, keeping the area nice and green although on Friday it was all just white!
Parks Group Manager and project co-ordinator, Clive Bramble, said: “The local children have chosen really well, so that the new equipment is all different and full of extras. They really like the mounds and hidden scavenger hunt, on top of the climbing net and multi unit with three slides including one with a twisting drop.”
Consultation events were held at Shoreham Football Club to get ideas from the local children as to what equipment should be provided in the new play area. The official opening will be held and a perimeter fence erected in the New Year.
Note :
This site is being funded through the WSCC Playbuilder funds who will also organise the official opening in the New Year.
