A perfect playday in Southwick
Ref : 10/069 : Date : 28-07-2010
A perfect playday is happening at Southwick Recreation Ground on Wednesday
4th August 2010 to mark National Playday. The fun starts at 10am until 3pm
with loads of free activities all day for children of all ages. Now in its
23rd year playdays are all about celebrating childrens' right to play.
Adur and Worthing councils wellbeing team have organised the event with support from Brighton & Hove Albion, Impulse Leisure and West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service. West Sussex County Council have added £400 to make the day a special playday.
For sporty children there's tennis, bowls, football and more. Enjoy fun fair rides, decorate a cup cake, sow some seeds, have water fun with a fire engine and generally play and have fun.
Get the picnics ready and the children out of the house and come and have some fun playing in the good old fresh air and best of all it’s all free.
Adur's cabinet member for health, safety and wellbeing, David Simmons said: "These days children can't play out in the way we used to when I was a child. Sadly this means they don't enjoy the same sort of freedom to play and socialise together, an important part of their development. That's why our parks are so important. They provide not only the opportunity to help children get along with each other, but also to bring parents together for friendship and mutual support. The playday at Southwick looks great fun. Hope to see you all there."
