Do I need planning permission?
You
can find out what permission(s) you need (planning permission or building
regulations approval) on the Planning Portal website. You can view planning
and building regulations information for many common householder projects
and find out what permissions you may (or may not) need to do the works.
You will also find useful case histories and information on your responsibilities :
- Planning Portal building works website - refer to the 'common projects' to find out what permissions you may need (www.planningportal.gov.uk/permission/)
- 'Change of use' on the Planning Portal website - 'Use class orders' and 'Is the change permitted?' (www.planningportal.gov.uk/permission/commonprojects/changeofuse/)
- Operating a business from home / working from home (www.planningportal.gov.uk/permission/commonprojects/workingfromhome/)
If in doubt - please ask! If you are uncertain, or wish to discuss a planning application that you wish to make, please contact Planning Services before you start any works.
