Planning Portal logoPlanning Portal

Adur District Council provides information and services about planning in partnership with the Planning Portal. The Planning Portal is an on-line resource for planning information and services set up to help anyone who wants to know more about the planning process in England and Wales.

General Information about the Planning Portal :

The main sections of the Planning Portal are as follows :

The Guide section : provides a brief introduction to the planning system and some explanation of why planning controls are important and necessary. It includes general guidance about the kinds of work for which you need to apply for planning permission and those for which you do not. It is intended for both householders and business people.

In the Apply (Make an Application) section : you can create electronic applications and submit them on-line. To use this service you will need to register with the Planning Portal and create a User Name and Password. You can also use the Portal’s on-line applications service to purchase a site location plan to accompany your application.

The Appeals section : provides information and guidance on the Appeals process. If you seek permission to carry out works to your property and your application isn't decided within a set period, or you get a decision from your local council that you disagree with, you have a right to appeal.

The Study section : is designed to help people to teach or learn about town and country planning. It is a useful resource for teachers and students of Planning and those considering or pursuing a career in town and country planning.

The Research section : of the Portal is aimed at planning professionals and those with an in-depth interest in planning policy and reform. You can obtain information on many issues including the Government’s Planning Reform Programme, Parliamentary answers and statements on planning matters and you can view copies of Planning Policy.

Are you aware of the biggest change to the planning system in decades?

1APP will change the way you submit planning applications to every authority in England.

From the 6th April 2008, the Standard Planning Application Form (1APP) will replace all existing types of planning application forms (except minerals) within England and will become the only legal way of submitting a planning application.

Applications may be submitted on Adur Council's existing planning application forms up until the 5th April 2008. Although Adur Council plans to make the new 1App application forms and on-line application facility (via the Planning Portal) available prior to the 6th April 2008. Applicants will then be able to submit planning applications on the new 1App paper forms, or on-line through the Planning Portal. This date will shortly be announced through local communications and on this page.

Learn more about 1APP on the Planning Portal 1APP webpage (www.planningportal.gov.uk/england/government/en/1115314697037.html).

The 1APP forms are also now available on our website.
