Communications and Consultation Strategy
The last communications strategy was agreed in 1999. All of the actions in that strategy have now been achieved. The council carried out a full communications review in 2000 and a best value review in 2001/2. The council's corporate communications service was judged as good. This strategy develops the work carried out for the best value review of corporate communications and the subsequent Audit Commission inspection in 2002.
This strategy is intended to re focus corporate communications and consultation within the organisation and provide a 'way forward' to advance the way we currently work over the next two years.
The strategy outlines the actions the council will need to engage in to accomplish our specific organisational goals. It includes timescales for achieving those actions and how we will measure the results.
The strategy concerns three aspects :
- external communications - how we communicate and consult with people outside the council i.e. residents, stakeholders, the media, partners, etc.
- internal communications - how we communicate and consult people within the council, and
- consultation
