Licensing Policy / Licensing Act 2003
The council as a 'Licensing authority' is required under s5(1) of the Licensing Act 2003 to determine its policy with respect to the exercising of its licensing functions under the Act. The council must publish its policy and must review it every three years or at other such times as it considers appropriate.
This policy was formulated after consultation with :
- the Chief Officer of the Police for the Adur District
- the Fire Authority for the Adur District
- holders of premises licences, club premises certificates, or their representatives, and representatives of businesses and residents within its area, licence-holders, residents groups, parish councils for their views.

Review of Licensing Policy Statement
The Council is required to review its Licensing Policy Statement every three years, and has consequently produced this revised version.
Amendments are shown in italics, and all proposed deletions are shown as crossed through. The proposed changes are not considered to be major. Most of the changes are grammatical or typographical, or remove references to transitional arrangements which are no longer relevant.
Your comments and observations to the Licensing Office, at the Civic Centre are welcomed, and must be received by 13 October 2010, alternatively you can send your response to Environmental Support via e-mail.
Applying for a licence
If you wish to apply for a licence please visit the Department for Culture Media and Sport website where you will find all application forms for downloading, extensive guidance and a list of fees.

If you wish to apply for a temporary event notice (these have replaced the old occasional licences and occasional permissions) please visit the Department for Culture Media and Sport website where you will find all application forms for downloading, extensive guidance and a list of fees.
