What is Anti Social Behaviour?
The Crime and Disorder Act 1998 defines Anti Social Behaviour as any behaviour
that causes or is likely to cause harassment, alarm or distress to one or
more persons not of the same household as the perpetrator. This can include :
- All types of harassment including verbal and physical abuse and threats
- Racial and other kinds of harassment motivated by someone’s age, disability faith or sexual orientation ( which is known as hate crime)
- Vandalism, graffiti and damage to property
- Anti Social Driving
- Noise nuisance at high levels, unreasonable hours or continuous environmental health issues
- Drug misuse, drug dealing and alcohol related nuisance
- Gangs
- Rowdy Behaviour
- Fly tipping, abandoned cars, uncontrolled pets
Anti Social Behaviour is NOT ;
- Young people playing in parks
- Disagreements with neighbours
- Inconsiderate parking
- Disputes over property and boundaries
How Do I Report Anti Social Behaviour?
We can only deal with anti social behaviour if we know where and when it
is happening. Anyone living, working or visiting Adur or Worthing can report
ASB to Adur and Worthing Safer Communities Team.

This is a 24 hour answer phone. You can leave a message giving details of the ASB. You do not have to leave your details but if you do, a member of the team will contact you within two working days. - On-line - You can use our online reporting form
- In person - The Safer Communities Team is based within Shoreham police station, Ham Road. It is best to call in advance to check that there will be someone available to speak to you.

What Happens Next?
When you report and incident of anti social behaviour, we will:
- Contact you within two working days
- Provide you with the details of who will be dealing with your complaint
- Record and investigate the details
- We will discuss options and agree actions with you
- Provide you and any witnesses with appropriate support
- Use the tools and powers we have available to deal with the persons responsible
- Inform you of our progress by your preferred method ( eg, text, email, letter or phone)
- Treat the information you give us sensitively
- Seek your feedback about how we handled your complaint
Reducing anti social behaviour is one of our key priorities and we will strive to resolve complaints wherever possible.
