Shoreham Beach Local Nature Reserve
Shoreham Beach became a Local Nature Reserve (LNR) on 10th June 2006. A certificate was presented to commemorate the event.

The text of the certificate reads as below :
Shoreham Beach Local Nature Reserve
This certificate is to commemorate the official declaration of the Shoreham Beach Local Nature Reserve which took place on World Oceans Day, 10th June 2006 at Coronation Green, Shoreham-by-Sea.
The declaration was made by Councillor Neil Parkin, leader of the Council, and Mr Ian Lowrie, Chief Executive of Adur District Council, and accepted by the Management Group for the Shoreham Beach Local nature Reserve on behalf of the communities of Adur District and West Sussex.

The
'Friends of Shoreham Beach' (FOSB) organisation has been developed
with the assistance and backing of Adur District Council.
It aims to help educate the community about the Local Nature Reserve of Shoreham Beach and to also be a voice for the community for all related topics to do with the beach area.
There are regular meetings that are open to the public where various points may be discussed and different projects designed.
