Bus shelters
Adur
District Council has responsibility for over 75 bus shelters throughout the
district.
The council chose a corporate style of shelter for all replacement or new installations as part of its four year programme of replacement introduced in 2005. They are from Ringway Signs' City 90 range and constructed of aluminium for long-term durability and are of the highest quality design and aesthetic appearance. The council now has 30 of these shelters in various configurations.
Each of the City 90 shelters contains an information board for charitable groups to promote events. For details of how to apply for permission to display A4 posters (portrait only) in these information boards please see our promoting events webpage.
In addition to the City 90 shelters the council recently took over responsibility of 25 Clearchannel shelters with advertising panels. The advertising contract has been let to 247 Outdoor Ltd and this income helps fund the cleaning costs of all the shelters.
Sompting Parish Council is responsible for eight bus shelters in Sompting.
Bus stop poles are the responsibility of West Sussex County Council. Some bus stops now have real time information and it is hoped that this will be extended.
Cleaning and maintenance of bus shelters
All Adur District Council owned bus shelters are cleaned on a monthly basis with maintenance and repairs being carried out as necessary. Regular safety checks are undertaken and any danger to the public is immediately addressed.
If you have any concerns about the condition of a bus shelter please send the Adur Town Centres and Street Scene Coordinator an e-mail or contact (01273) 263152 or 263000 giving details of the bus shelter location and reference number.
New and replacement bus shelters
Adur District Council has a programme for the refurbishment and renewal of existing bus shelters. At present there are no funds available for shelters at new locations.
