Żywiec, Poland

Zywiec name imageŻywiec called the capital of the Beskidy Mountains is more than 700 years old. It is situated at the centre of the Żywiecka Valley where the Rivers Sola and Koszarawa converge at a height of 345-355 metres.

Hills around Zywiec One on the most interesting towns in the Bielsko-Biala region Żywiec is an excellent base for exploring the mountains and has good rail and road connections.

Local Zywiec costumeIt is one of the most magnificent tourist areas of Poland and an ideal place for sailing, canoeing, windsurfing and swimming as well as hiking in the Beskidy Mountains. Its close proximity to winter games centres with numerous ski-lifts appeals to skiers.

The town is also a bustling centre of cultural life. Ever year in July / August the amphitheatre holds the Beskidian Culture Week, Polish Mountaineers Festival and International Folk Sessions together with accompanying shows.

Zywiec town squareIn the autumn you can listen to Baroque and Renaissance music as well as the Municipal Chamber Orchestra, various choirs, brass bands and folkgroups in the Old Castle courtyard.

Żywiec is also interesting for its historic architecture, of which the most important is the Old Castle with its arcaded courtyard (15th century).

Zywiec crestThe Habsburg's Palace was built in the second half of the 19th century The garden of the Palace was redesigned and landscaped to an English Park that is unique in Poland.

As one of the most important industrial centres in Bielsko-Biala Region Żywiec attracts a growing number of foreign investors and partners interested in business co-operatives.

Żywiec is the most dynamic town in the region with enormous economic potential conducive to business and investment.

You will always be welcome in Żywiec.
