Missed bin collections :
- See the
'report a missed bin' form on the AWS website (www.aws.gov.uk/toptasks)
Remember the 'slipping days' :
Please remember that the collection day for your waste will change whenever there is a bank holiday. The system, called 'slipping days' means that whenever there is a bank holiday, the day your waste is collected on will 'slip back' by the number of bank holidays.
The easiest way to find your current collection day is to either use the postcode search form or download your collection day calendar (both are available above).
To explain the slipping days system - examples :
- At Easter there are two bank holidays (Good Friday and Easter Monday) :
If before Easter you had your recycling and waste collected on a Tuesday, then your collection day will move back two days to Thursday and will remain as a Thursday until the next bank holiday (in May) when it will 'slip back' again. - In August there is one bank holiday :
If before the bank holiday at the end of August you had your recycling and waste collected on a Monday, then your collection day will move back one day to Tuesday and will remain as a Tuesday until the next bank holidays at Christmas when it will 'slip back' again. - In December there are two bank holidays (Christmas Day and Boxing Day)
and then a few days later in January there is one (New Year's day) :
If before Christmas you had your recycling and waste collected on a Monday, then your collection day will move back two days to Wednesday, then at New year it will slip back a further day to Thursday. Your collection day will then remain as a Thursday until the next bank holiday when it will 'slip back' again. - There are no collections on bank holidays, or Saturdays, or Sundays.
