Summary of visitor statistics :
Note about the average page views per visit: The tables below show what appears to be a declining number of webpages viewed per visitor. At first glance this looks like the website is becoming less used, but what it actually shows is that users are finding what they are looking for quicker and are not hitting as many pages when trying to find what they are looking for. This is down to improved site navigation and better indexing by search engines (eg Google). This is actually a good sign. People visiting council websites tend to come to the site just for one thing, but do not then spend more time exploring the website after they have found what they were looking for, this is the opposite of sites like the BBC website where people tend to go and look for a number of things or spend time generally browsing the website.

1) Swap to SiteAnalyze for website stats - lower figures due to new stats software bedding into website, replacing cached stats code on users PC and also not quite a complete month's worth of stats.
2) The small figures in brackets from July 2011 onwards are additional statistics for the visitors to the Adur & Worthing joint planning website and are for viewings of planning application submissions and all their associated plans and documents across both Adur and Worthing Councils (whereas the website figures are just for the Adur DC website). These planning website page view figures appear to high when compared to the figures for just the Adur DC website - this is due to the number of individual documents and webpages that are associated with each planning application which need to be viewed (eg currently about 12 or 13 webpages/documents per application on average).
